Author(s)
Ericson Acosta, Jonas Staal
It is with deep sadness to learn today that poet, musician, cultural worker, and activist Ericson Acosta was killed by Philippine army troops on 30 November 2022 in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
In memory of our extraordinary collaborator in the context of the New World Academy, co-established by artist Jonas Staal and BAK, we republish here the interview between Ericson Acosta and Jonas Staal “I Am a Cultural Worker” originally published in the first New World Academy reader edited by Jonas Staal in dialogue with Jose Maria Sison, New World Academy Reader #1: Towards a People’s Culture (Utrecht: BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, 2013). It is also possible to view the full reader online here.
