Home Cheese Making as Radical Collective Action is a workshop and film screening event jointly developed by artist Cristina Lavosi and the b.ASIC a.CTIVIST k.ITCHEN, exploring the political potential of milk and cooking practices. This event is part of the Open Kitchen Weekender.
Participants will learn the basics of home cheese-making by experimenting with acid-coagulated fresh cheeses. Inspired by Cristina’s latest work, A Choral Accomplishment—a semi-fictional short film on work sharing—this event proposes home cheese-making as a radical collective action and encourages a reconsideration of the communalization of everyday labor as a possible foundation for an anti-capitalist program.
Following the workshop, there will be a screening of Cristina’s film, followed by a collective, informal discussion with the artist and the three protagonists of her film: Yusser al Obaidi, Lu Lin, and Ulufer Çelik—artists and researchers whose work revolves around the potential of collective cooking as both an artistic and political method. The day will conclude with a dinner event organized by Yusser, Lu, and Ulufer.
A maximum of 8 participants can join this workshop. It is now full!
PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN APRON.
