De tentoonstelling Vectors of the Possible bij BAK is samengesteld door Simon Sheikh. Met bijdragen van Matthew Buckingham, chto delat/What is to be done?, Freee, Sharon Hayes, Runo Lagomarsino & Johan Tirén, Elske Rosenfeld, Hito Steyerl, and Ultra-red. De opening loopt bij BAK van 12 september tot en met 28 november 2010 en opent op 11 september om 18.00 uur.
De tentoonstelling onderzoekt de betekenis van ‘horizon’ in kunst en politiek en verkent de manieren waarop kunstwerken horizonten van mogelijkheden en onmogelijkheden kunnen opzetten, hoe kunst nieuwe denkbeelden kan bewerkstelligen en dus andere manieren kan aandragen om de wereld te verbeelden. Naast verschillende kunstenaars uit de tentoonstelling zal curator Simon Sheikh aanwezig zijn tijdens de opening op zaterdag 11 september en ingaan op de verschillende conceptuele uitgangspunten van de tentoonstelling en de vragen die het project oproept.
Vectors of the Possible is een onderzoekstentoonstelling georganiseerd in het kader van FORMER WEST, een langlopend en veelzijdig internationaal onderzoeks-, educatie-, publicatie- en tentoonstellingsproject (2008–2016). Voor meer informatie over dit project, zie hier.

Using the sancocho (a pan-Latin American soup with no fixed recipe) as a tool for research and encounter, Mercado Lourdes (Bogotá, Colombia) will host and organize a series of field meals. These events activate and connect the multiple affects that have resulted from ongoing research with local producers into the biodiversity of the territory.

In all continents, people have built matriarchal cosmologies sustained by complex rituals. In the advent of main modern religions and after centuries of colonizing invasions, the goddesses of antiquity were suppressed by the patriarchal structures that consolidated our era. However, they found ways to speak to us in the language of patterns, melodies, and poems. This workshop uses the voice as a method to reveal the presence of goddesses.
