In 2013 verbleef multimedia- en performancekunstenaar Nástio Mosquito drie maanden in Utrecht, als onderdeel van het programma Research-in-Residence (RIR) van BAK. Tijdens dit verblijf ontwikkelde hij de eerste fase van zijn werk S.E.F.A. (Se Eu Fosse Angolano). S.E.F.A. beleeft op 28 mei 2016 de Nederlandse première ter gelegenheid van SPRING 2016, waarbij deze show een co-presentatie is van de organisatie van het festival en BAK.
SPRING omschrijft S.E.F.A. als volgt: “S.E.F.A. (Se Eu Fosse Angolano) is een verbluffende onemanshow waarin Nástio Mosquito persoonlijke tirades, opzwepende poetry slam en emotionele songs mengt met prikkelende visuals. Hij neemt in S.E.F.A. geen blad voor de mond. Hoopvol en energiek stelt hij vragen over identiteit en uitdrukkingen als ‘wortels’ waarbij hij heerlijk politiek incorrect durft te zijn. De in Angola geboren Mosquito werkt multidisciplinair: muziek, filosofie, dans, videokunst, digital art… Hij heeft zelfs een eigen app ontwikkeld. Sommigen noemen hem beeldend kunstenaar, anderen theatermaker of muzikant. Maar bovenal is Mosquito een performer pur sang die ‘cultural empowerment’ een nieuw gezicht geeft.”
Op het festival krijgen bezoekers de gelegenheid om zich op een informele manier verder te verdiepen in de voorstellingen en makers door een zogenaamde Bar Talk bij te wonen: “tijdens een Bar Talk praten uiteenlopende gasten met elkaar na over de voorstelling die ze zojuist hebben gezien; van universitair docent tot grafisch ontwerper. Hoe hebben zij naar de voorstelling gekeken, wat vonden zij ervan en hoe hebben ze het beleefd? Met een biertje in de hand en de borrelnootjes in de buurt verwoordt elke gast zijn/haar inzichten over de voorstelling vanuit zijn/haar eigen achtergrond.”
In de Bar Talk die volgt op de uitvoering van Nástio Mosquito gaat artistiek directeur Maria Hlavajova van BAK als gastspreker in op de performance, de kunstenaar en de relatie tussen zijn oeuvre en het werk van BAK.

Using the sancocho (a pan-Latin American soup with no fixed recipe) as a tool for research and encounter, Mercado Lourdes (Bogotá, Colombia) will host and organize a series of field meals. These events activate and connect the multiple affects that have resulted from ongoing research with local producers into the biodiversity of the territory.

In all continents, people have built matriarchal cosmologies sustained by complex rituals. In the advent of main modern religions and after centuries of colonizing invasions, the goddesses of antiquity were suppressed by the patriarchal structures that consolidated our era. However, they found ways to speak to us in the language of patterns, melodies, and poems. This workshop uses the voice as a method to reveal the presence of goddesses.
