Deze solotentoonstelling In the Middle of Things van de Russische kunstenaar Olga Chernysheva bestaat uit nieuwe werken en een overzicht van haar kunstenaarspraktijk. Met haar schilderijen, aquarellen, objecten, video’s en foto’s neemt Chernysheva deel aan een complex proces van observeren, interpreteren en het opnieuw vormgeven van haar omgeving om zo de manieren te verkennen waarop kunst de realiteit kan weergeven. Ze concentreert zich vaak op individuen in dagelijkse situaties, en onthult op deze manier de diepere betekenissen over de maatschappij, getekend door postcommunistische en neoliberale condities.
In the Middle of Things is een onderzoekstentoonstelling georganiseerd in het kader van FORMER WEST, een langlopend en veelzijdig internationaal onderzoeks-, educatie-, publicatie- en tentoonstellingsproject (2008–2016). Voor meer informatie over dit project, zie: www.formerwest.org.

Using the sancocho (a pan-Latin American soup with no fixed recipe) as a tool for research and encounter, Mercado Lourdes (Bogotá, Colombia) will host and organize a series of field meals. These events activate and connect the multiple affects that have resulted from ongoing research with local producers into the biodiversity of the territory.

In all continents, people have built matriarchal cosmologies sustained by complex rituals. In the advent of main modern religions and after centuries of colonizing invasions, the goddesses of antiquity were suppressed by the patriarchal structures that consolidated our era. However, they found ways to speak to us in the language of patterns, melodies, and poems. This workshop uses the voice as a method to reveal the presence of goddesses.
