Karrabing Film Collective, Night Time Go, 2017

Op 19 september 1943 ontsnapte een groep Karrabing voorouders uit een internerinskamp en liep 300 kilometer terug naar hun oorspronkelijke land aan de kust in Noordelijk Australië. Night Time Go is een onderzoek naar de poging van de kolonistenstaat om het Indigenous volk tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog van hun land te verdrijven met trucks, treinen en geweren, en naar de weigering van de Karrabing voorouders om vastgezet te worden.

De film begint met een navolging van de historische details van de voorouderlijke reis, maar verandert al snel in een alternatieve geschiedenis waarin de groep inspireert tot een algemene Indigenous opstand, waarmee de kolonisten worden verdreven van de Top End van Australië. Met een mix van drama en humor, geschiedenis en satire, geeft Night Time Go subalterne geschiedenis een plek buiten de normen van de kolonisator.

Using the sancocho (a pan-Latin American soup with no fixed recipe) as a tool for research and encounter, Mercado Lourdes (Bogotá, Colombia) will host and organize a series of field meals. These events activate and connect the multiple affects that have resulted from ongoing research with local producers into the biodiversity of the territory.

In all continents, people have built matriarchal cosmologies sustained by complex rituals. In the advent of main modern religions and after centuries of colonizing invasions, the goddesses of antiquity were suppressed by the patriarchal structures that consolidated our era. However, they found ways to speak to us in the language of patterns, melodies, and poems. This workshop uses the voice as a method to reveal the presence of goddesses.

Different strategies, tools, methodologies, and contexts are explored to learn more about the challenges and opportunities in the practices and theories of community kitchens.
