Maria Hlavajova, Jonas Staal
Van 19 tot en met 21 september 2014 vindt in de Koninklijke Vlaamse Schouwburg (KVS) in Brussel de vierde New World Summit plaats, onder de titel Stateless State. Naast de in Den Haag gevestigde Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization Organisatie voor niet-Vertegenwoordigde Naties en Volkeren, is ook BAK voor de editie van dit jaar een partner van de New World Summit (NWS). Dit partnerschap maakt deel uit van een groter aantal samenwerkingsverbanden tussen BAK en NWS [NvdM/B1]. Andere voorbeelden daarvan zijn onder meer New World Embassy: Azawad, een project van Moussa Ag Assarid en Jonas Staal (dat van 6 september tot 9 oktober 2014 te zien is bij BAK) en de New World Academy #4: The Art of Creating A State (die van 17 tot en met 19 oktober plaatsvindt bij BAK). De afsluitende sessie van de vierde New World Summit, op 21 september 2014, wordt voorgezeten door Maria Hlavajova, artistiek directeur van BAK.
De New World Summit is een artistieke en politieke organisatie, waarmee kunstenaar Jonas Staal het potentieel verkent dat kunst kan hebben in de ontwikkeling van alternatieve vormen van stateloze politiek. De vierde Summit komt na de edities van Berlijn en Leiden in 2012 en Kochi in 2012-2013. De internationale top vindt plaats in een parlement dat is opgebouwd binnenin de Koninklijke Vlaamse Schouwburg. Het huisvest twintig vertegenwoordigers van zogeheten “stateloze staten” van over de hele wereld.

These events activate and connect the multiple affects that have resulted from ongoing research with local producers into the biodiversity of the territory.

In all continents, people have built matriarchal cosmologies sustained by complex rituals. In the advent of main modern religions and after centuries of colonizing invasions, the goddesses of antiquity were suppressed by the patriarchal structures that consolidated our era. However, they found ways to speak to us in the language of patterns, melodies, and poems. This workshop uses the voice as a method to reveal the presence of goddesses.
