Michael Stevenson
Tijdens een intensieve periode van research, die zich gedeeltelijk ontwikkelt door een serie van lezingen en discussiegroepen in samenwerking met de Universiteit Utrecht en dient als voorbereiding op aankomende grootschalige projecten, stelt BAK haar tentoonstellingsruimtes tijdelijk beschikbaar voor een selectie van korte projecten ontwikkeld door instituten voor hedendaagse kunst en cultuur in Utrecht en Nederland.
Op zondag 18 mei 2008 om 16.00 uur biedt BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, onderdak aan een artist’s talk door Michael Stevenson als onderdeel van het project Master Humphrey’s Clock, georganiseerd door de deelnemers aan het Curatorial Programme 2007/2008, de Appel, Amsterdam.
Op dezelfde dag begint om 13.00 uur een rondleiding met de curatoren van Master Humphrey’s Clock bij Het Gebouw van Stanley Brouwn en Bertus Mulder: Hogeweide 3B, Leidsche Rijn, Utrecht.

Using the sancocho (a pan-Latin American soup with no fixed recipe) as a tool for research and encounter, Mercado Lourdes (Bogotá, Colombia) will host and organize a series of field meals. These events activate and connect the multiple affects that have resulted from ongoing research with local producers into the biodiversity of the territory.

In all continents, people have built matriarchal cosmologies sustained by complex rituals. In the advent of main modern religions and after centuries of colonizing invasions, the goddesses of antiquity were suppressed by the patriarchal structures that consolidated our era. However, they found ways to speak to us in the language of patterns, melodies, and poems. This workshop uses the voice as a method to reveal the presence of goddesses.

Different strategies, tools, methodologies, and contexts are explored to learn more about the challenges and opportunities in the practices and theories of community kitchens.
