Rabih Mroué
Van vrijdag 21 mei tot en met zondag 1 augustus presenteert BAK, basis voor actuele kunst I, the Undersigned, de eerste solotentoonstelling van de Libanese theaterregisseur, scenarioschrijver, acteur en beeldend kunstenaar Rabih Mroué. De opening vindt plaats op donderdag 20 mei 2010 om 20.00 uur in BAK.
Mroué’s werk onderzoekt onderwerpen als persoonlijke verantwoordelijkheid, de verstrengeling van persoonlijke geschiedenissen met grotere verhalen, en de representatie van macht met bijzondere aandacht voor Libanon en het Midden-Oosten.
Op donderdag 17 juni van 17.00–20.00 uur presenteert BAK, in samenwerking met de conferentie Waiting for the Political Moment, een lezing van filosoof Simon Critchley, gevolgd door de performance The Inhabitants of Images van Rabih Mroué.

Using the sancocho (a pan-Latin American soup with no fixed recipe) as a tool for research and encounter, Mercado Lourdes (Bogotá, Colombia) will host and organize a series of field meals. These events activate and connect the multiple affects that have resulted from ongoing research with local producers into the biodiversity of the territory.

In all continents, people have built matriarchal cosmologies sustained by complex rituals. In the advent of main modern religions and after centuries of colonizing invasions, the goddesses of antiquity were suppressed by the patriarchal structures that consolidated our era. However, they found ways to speak to us in the language of patterns, melodies, and poems. This workshop uses the voice as a method to reveal the presence of goddesses.
