Decolonizing Architecture Art Residency (DAAR), Common Assembly

Common Assembly is een dwarsdoorsnede van een verlaten en nooit gebruikt Palestijns parlementsgebouw in Jeruzalem, die op schaal gemaakt is om in de ruimte op de begane grond van BAK te passen. De aanleg, die in 1996 begon ten tijde van de Oslo-akkoorden, werd in 2003 stopgezet toen met de Tweede Intifada, of Palestijnse opstand, het mislukken van het politieke proces duidelijk werd. DAAR kwam erachter dat het gebouw, al dan niet opzettelijk, precies op de eenzijdig door Israël binnen Jeruzalem uitgeroepen grens was aangelegd. Het collectief ontwikkelde de film en installatie Common Assembly, om juist die deze landsstrook, die zich deels op Israëlisch en deels op Palestijns grondgebied bevindt, en die daarmee in een juridisch niemandsland ligt, onder de aandacht te brengen. In de context van de tentoonstelling Unstated (or, Living Without Approval) biedt Common Assembly kunstwerken en discours een platform.

Using the sancocho (a pan-Latin American soup with no fixed recipe) as a tool for research and encounter, Mercado Lourdes (Bogotá, Colombia) will host and organize a series of field meals. These events activate and connect the multiple affects that have resulted from ongoing research with local producers into the biodiversity of the territory.

In all continents, people have built matriarchal cosmologies sustained by complex rituals. In the advent of main modern religions and after centuries of colonizing invasions, the goddesses of antiquity were suppressed by the patriarchal structures that consolidated our era. However, they found ways to speak to us in the language of patterns, melodies, and poems. This workshop uses the voice as a method to reveal the presence of goddesses.

Different strategies, tools, methodologies, and contexts are explored to learn more about the challenges and opportunities in the practices and theories of community kitchens.
