Van 24 juni tot en met 9 juli 2017 vindt bij BAK de MaHKU-afstudeertentoonstelling ABiotic Factors plaats. De opening is vrijdag 23 juni van 17 tot 19 uur.
Vertrekkend vanuit het idee van een natuur-cultuur begrijpt de MaHKU-afstudeertentoonstelling van dit jaar de stedelijke omgeving als ruimte van interactie tussen zowel levende als niet-levende actoren. Een geïmporteerde boom groeiend in een achtertuin in Nederland leeft een eigen migratiebestaan; microgebeurtenissen in de Utrechtse straten zijn een aanzet tot poëtische narratieven; het innerlijk van een verouderd stuk technologie verwordt tot een cartografie van een onbekende toekomst; en projecties van/op planten weerspiegelen de geabstraheerde wetenschappelijke blik. Kritische ecologie neemt in die zin een nieuwe vorm aan waarin het mens-dier in een wederzijdse verhouding staat tot alle verschillende biotische en abiotische factoren van de hedendaagse natuur-cultuur, waarbij we ons wellicht voorbij het Antropoceen begeven. Zijn er manieren waarop de kunst zich betekenisvol kan verhouden ten aanzien van deze veranderende relaties?
De MaHKU is de masteropleiding beeldende kunst van de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (HKU), Utrecht, waarmee BAK al langdurig samenwerkt.

Using the sancocho (a pan-Latin American soup with no fixed recipe) as a tool for research and encounter, Mercado Lourdes (Bogotá, Colombia) will host and organize a series of field meals. These events activate and connect the multiple affects that have resulted from ongoing research with local producers into the biodiversity of the territory.

In all continents, people have built matriarchal cosmologies sustained by complex rituals. In the advent of main modern religions and after centuries of colonizing invasions, the goddesses of antiquity were suppressed by the patriarchal structures that consolidated our era. However, they found ways to speak to us in the language of patterns, melodies, and poems. This workshop uses the voice as a method to reveal the presence of goddesses.
