2.Dh5 Festival – Defeating Dystopia?
BAK, base for 2.Dh5
The fourteenth edition of the yearly 2.Dh5 festival has the theme “Defeating Dystopia?” The festival is focused on grass-roots campaigns, tactics and methods geared towards a society based on freedom and solidarity.
The festival takes as a starting point the increasing disintegration of today’s society, caused by ecological, economic, and social crises, as well as the extreme right and techno-dystopian reactions to these developments. For the oppressed and exploited the current reality is already a dystopia. Does this realization mean one should toss aside the hope for a free and caring world? Or should one look for sources of hope in struggle, resistance, and utopian projects worldwide?
Defeating Dystopia? consists of workshops, discussions, and talks on these questions, as well as several dozen activities focusing on strategies and in depth explorations drawing on feminism, queerness, anti-racism, anti-fascism, decolonization, anti-militarism, international solidarity, climate/ecology, labor & class struggles, migration/no-border, internet freedom/privacy, right to the city/gentrification, and all their intersections.
The festival is self-convened by 2.Dh5 and hosted at BAK. It is part of the program series BAK, basis voor…, in which BAK join forces with other organizations in addressing shared urgencies and developing propositions for a future of “being together otherwise.”
