Lawrence Abu Hamdan (Beirut) is an artist whose work, taking the form of film, writing, performance and installation, is concerned with the politics of voice and listening. In 2015 Abu Hamdan was the Armory Show commissioned artist and was included in the New Museum Triennial: Surround Audience. His work has been exhibited internationally. Selected solo exhibitions include: Taqiyya, Kunsthalle, Sankt Gallen, 2015; Tape Echo, Beirut/Van Abbemuseum, Cairo/Eindhoven, 2013; The Freedom of Speech Itself, Showroom, London, 2012; The Whole Truth, Casco, Utrecht, 2012. Additionally, his works have been exhibited and performed at venues such as the Shanghai Biennial (2014), The Whitechapel Gallery, London, MACBA Barcelona, Tate Modern, London, M HKA, Antwerp, the Beirut Art Center, and the Taipei Biennial (2012).
