Glenda Martinus
new-media artist
With a background in information
technology and women’s labor rights in the
Caribbean, Martinus’s work tackles themes
that run from women’s empowerment to
nature appreciation and historical remembering. Martinus has learned a thing or
two about word processing programs after
having taught typing for more than three
decades. She has now turned her favorite
program, Microsoft Word, into a painting
canvas by stretching its technical limits
for drawing. Her work has been shown in
Amsterdam, Utrecht, Antwerp, Aarhus,
London, and Paris.
