Assembling in Resistance returns with a series of film screenings in collaboration with het Rode Keukentje. Each film will be contextualized with the by now familiar method of gathering and study through collective reading and discussion.

On Wednesday 18th of February, you are warmly invited to watch together The Story of Jenin, a documentary film directed by Ehab Ghafri. It tells the story of the Jenin Refugee Camp and the city from 2013 until today. The film (70 minutes long) presents the real-life stories of the camp’s residents and the hardships they have faced in recent years, reflecting the daily suffering of Palestinians living in the refugee camps of the West Bank.

The documentary takes the audience on a journey inside the camp, revealing life as it is truly lived there. It was produced over two years, in 2024 and 2025, while the story of Jenin is ongoing and gives an intimate, beautiful and personal look at daily struggles, fears, dreams, and moments of joy. Meanwhile, the community’s profound strength in the face of military violence and displacement comes through everywhere.

About Assembling in Resistance

Assembling in Resistance is a program of political education shaped around the artwork What Are Your Flowers? created by artist and organiser Iliada Charalambous. The gatherings for collective study are inspire by what Amilcar Cabral termed as ‘militant education’. The aim is to learn from a variety of revolutionary movements across time and territory, with a focus and in collaboration with currently active movements. Assembling in Resistance engages in a process of trust-building and mutual commitment to anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist and anti-fascist politics with its collaborators. Together they delve into a political theory that not only gives us the tools to identify the problematics and workings of our current ecocidal and genocidal system, but that can also offer us the tools and mindset to build up strength, comradeship and a world built on People’s power.
