“Do writers know what they are talking about?”, vraagt een diplomaat aan een schrijver in Jean-Luc Godards film Notre Musique (2004). “Of course not”, zegt de schrijver en vervolgt zijn tegengestelde bewering: “Those who act never have the ability to say or think adequately about what they do.” Wil Godard, binnen de context van zijn filosofische verhandeling over oorlog, hiermee een uitspraak doen over de rol van artistieke en intellectuele productie vis-à-vis de complexe politieke, sociale en economische toestand van de wereld vandaag de dag? En als dat het geval is, spreekt hij dan indirect de capaciteit van kunst aan om te verbeelden wat de wereld in potentie zou kunnen worden, in plaats van te claimen dit al te weten? De genodigden voor de discussie presenteren research en projecten, die op een intensieve manier de positie en achtergronden van een kritische artistieke en intellectuele praktijk bestuderen en proberen opnieuw een verband te leggen tussen esthetiek en politiek. De discussie gaat over hoe kunst kan bijdragen aan de mogelijkheid van een emancipatie van de huidige hiërarchie in de wereld, door het ter discussie stellen van de algemene consensus en de dominante politieke hegemonieën. De panelleden proberen aan te geven hoe kunstenaars en intellectuelen verschillende visies uitdragen door gebruik te maken van een creatieve kracht die de “eindeloze, destructieve energie” (Notre Musique) van ons tijdperk probeert te pareren.

Using the sancocho (a pan-Latin American soup with no fixed recipe) as a tool for research and encounter, Mercado Lourdes (Bogotá, Colombia) will host and organize a series of field meals. These events activate and connect the multiple affects that have resulted from ongoing research with local producers into the biodiversity of the territory.

In all continents, people have built matriarchal cosmologies sustained by complex rituals. In the advent of main modern religions and after centuries of colonizing invasions, the goddesses of antiquity were suppressed by the patriarchal structures that consolidated our era. However, they found ways to speak to us in the language of patterns, melodies, and poems. This workshop uses the voice as a method to reveal the presence of goddesses.
